Petpals Chingford & Epping Forest celebrate first year!

Kerry Donn Petpals ChingfordA CHINGFORD-based supermum, who estimates she has been on over 80 dog walks and has fed 50 pets over the past year, is celebrating the first anniversary of her business.

Petpals Chingford and Epping Forest was opened by Kerry Donn, 34, two weeks after the birth of her son, Jack.

She looks after pets of all shapes and sizes across the area, and offers a dog walking/boarding and cat/small pet sitting service.

Kerry is a former accountant who decided she wanted a career change. She loves animals and as a child the family had five dogs, three cats, three rabbits and a tankful of tropical fish.

She said: “My mum used to call our house ’the farm’. I simply have the best job in the world. Yes, it can get a bit wet and muddy when I go out for a walk, but the welcome I get from the pets when I go to see them is incredible and it makes it all worthwhile.

“I also love the variety, from dog walking and cat sitting, to bird boarding and snake feeding, every day is different.

“I couldn’t be happier; no more commuting, deadlines, ‘work’ clothes or career-ladder stresses. Just me, my Petpals anorak and a decent pair of walking boots. Becoming self-employed is the best thing I ever did. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

‘I am very happy with the way my business is going, I have some great owners, wonderful animals, an amazing member of staff who I couldn’t be without and a very rewarding business.”

“In three years’ time I would like to have a network of carers to help me look after more pets, as I am getting very busy and hate having to say ’no’ to people, which is happening more and more often these days.”
