About Petpals Blaby, Leicestershire
Barbara Hackett has been running Petpals Blaby since November 2007 and is based in Wigston. Having worked for 17 years as an administrator at the local leisure centre, Barbara decided to completely change her career to work with animals and spend lots of time outdoors.
Barbara has been a cat owner for 30 years, providing a loving home for a succession of rescue cats. Current residents are; Sugar, a 14 year old large white and tortoiseshell tabby and 8 year old Purdy, a black long hair – who can be seen above. Barbara’s family also keep tropical and cold water fish and in the past have kept rabbits, rats, mice, gerbils, a chinchilla and various tropical frogs and lizards. Home visits for your cat or small animals are a great alternative to a cattery or pet ‘hotel’ as they can be cared for in a familiar home environment, which means a happy and contented pet on your return.
We are a small but dedicated team of dog walkers and pet carers. Laura is Barbara’s daughter and has been a Petpals Blaby pet carer since 2005, having also worked for the previous two owners. As well as walking dogs for a living she spends two nights every week as a volunteer assistant trainer at a local, not for profit, dog training club, helping with puppy classes and basic obedience training, to help dogs achieve various levels of Good Citizen awards. Laura has also helped to run many dog events at local charity shows, arranging agility courses and other fun competitions.
Stacey is the third team member and has been working with us since 2011. She has two dogs, a pony and a snake and has also kept chickens. As well as dog walking, Stacey provides an excellent dog home boarding and day care service, where her ‘guests’ are treated in the same way as a family pet. Spaces are limited so be sure to book early. We would love to add more home boarding hosts to our team, so please make contact if you would like to find out more.
We are proud to offer a caring, flexible service, tailored to your individual pets’ needs so that we can provide company and care when you are not there.
