Working one to one with you and your dog, Petpals can help with both basic dog obedience training - teaching your dog to sit, stay, lie down, walk to heel etc - and with pet behaviour modification - pulling on the lead, jumping up, excessive barking, refusing to recall etc. Whether you dog is still a puppy or is an adult, most dog behaviour problems can be improved, as long as you use the right approach. We can work with you and your dog so that together we make those improvements, by establishing the root cause of the problem first and then developing a strategy for you to use. Angela Parrish commenced Petpals in York in October 2003, offering professional pet care services within York and in the surrounding villages. Angela left a career in financial services management to combine a life long love of animals with the desire to run a small business. Over the years Angela has owned many different pets, and currently has a black Labrador called Spike and also owns ponies.
In 2005 Angela was joined in partnership in the business by her brother-in-law, Ben Smith, who was also keen to leave the corporate world and work with animals. Ben has Spike’s brother, Paddy, who has adapted quickly to his lovely new life as a full time Petpals dog!
At Petpals we are fully trained, insured. Our pet sitting, pet boarding and pet training services are flexible and can be tailored to your pet’s individual needs. Our pet sitting and pet boarding services include, dog sitting, dog walking, dog boarding, home visits for cats and small pets, puppy care, elderly dog care, home visits for dogs, home sitting, cat sitting and a pet taxi and pet to vet service. We also offer a behaviour modification and dog training service, so if you have a problem pet we can offer practical help and advice
Making use of the many areas found locally, our dog walking aims to give your dog a stimulating and enjoyable walk in a safe environment. These can be individual visits for your dog(s) and or multi walks, with up to four dogs at a time transported in our purpose fitted vehicles.
Our puppy and elderly pet care service offers you units of time during the day to visit your dog(s) at home. During the visit we walk your dog or puppy, play, and if required help with ongoing training, toileting breaks, etc., along with, of course, lots of TLC.
We offer a pet boarding and pet care experience where your dog can stay in the home of one of our carefully selected, dedicated carers. You will be given the opportunity to meet the pet boarding carer before you go away and to see where your pet will be staying. When your dog stays with a Petpals approved family they are treated as one of the family with all the usual sights, sounds and smells of family life, but best of all they will receive all the love, cuddles and attention they deserve!
We are qualified to help with many types of pet behavioural problems, for both puppies and adult dogs. Our dog behaviour modification service is offered on a one-to-one basis, so you can be sure that our recommendations cater to your and your dog's specific needs. Our dog training and behaviour service consultations take place in your home so that your dog is in its own environment. Our pet behaviour and training services can also help with problems encountered by owners of other pets including cats.
Petpals have proven to be very popular with clients that want to leave their cats at home in there own environment, with familiar comforts and smells, particularly with elderly cats and cats that need medication. Our cat sitting service allows clients to go away safe in the knowledge that Petpals are visiting their cats to feed, clean litter trays if required, play, along with lots of TLC.
Our home based pet sitting service is a real alternative to kennels, your pets can remain in their own familiar surroundings, with their own routines and food while you are away.
Petpals also have varied experience in caring for small pets and exotics and are happy to provide home visits for these types of pets too.
Petpals are equipped with pet friendly vehicles fitted with specially designed safety cages of various sizes with a vet bed on top of removable rubber matting for hygiene. We can transport everything from small pets and cats to giant dog breeds. We can also help with trips to the vets.
