Welcome to Petpals Wetherby & Tadcaster

Angela started Petpals in 2003, after a long career in banking. We quickly built up a fantastic reputation for providing the very best quality pet care in York. Our new customers usually come to us through recommendations from other customers who have already used us - we're really proud of this! Petpals in York still looks after many pets who joined us in those very early days. You can read some of the comments customers have made about us on our Testimonials page.

After a successful and varied career as a senior officer in the military, Simon decided to join Petpals in 2011.

Together we now own and run Petpals. Over the years we have shared our lives with many pets, ranging from hamsters to horses! We currently own a Highland pony named Donnie, and a black Labrador, Spike, who of course is also part of the Petpals management team. Spike has his own Facebook page, on which he reflects on life as a Petpals dog and keeps up to date with his many Petpals pet friends - see him on Facebook here

We are assisted by a small and very dedicated team, with years of pet care experience between them. Our expertise covers all types of domestic pets, including exotics, and all ages, from the very young to the more mature, and we tailor-make our service to best suit you and your pets. For your peace of mind we keep in touch with you while your pet is with us, and we take some great photos which we email to you during walks and pet care visits.

As well as pet care and dog walking, we also offer dog behaviour and training advice. For more information on all that we can offer, read the Services section of our website.

Every customer is welcomed and valued, whether they need us every day or just once. And we constantly review how good our service is by asking for feedback from customers on how happy they are with our care of their beloved pets.

We know you will be really happy with our service - and you can put this to the test, as your first dog walk or pet care visit with us is free!

Simon, Angela and all the team are registered pet sitters, police checked and insured, who have completed training in the following:

  • Pet Handling and restraint
  • Pet and Dog Behaviour, intelligence and socialisation
  • First Aid
  • Care of Older Pets
  • Pet Sanitation

Pet Care, Pet Sitting, Pet Boarding and Dog Walking Service offered by Petpals Wetherby & Tadcaster

  • Dog Walking

Our dog walking service provides fantastic exercise for your dog, in the best dog walking places around the City. It's more than just exercise though - it's mental stimulation and socialisation, in the company of other friendly and like-minded dogs - which benefits most dogs tremendously. It also results in a tired and happy dog, calm when you come home from work and not demanding that you immediately take him or her out for another walk. Our team are all really experienced dog handlers, who understand the individual needs of individual dogs, and whose aim in life is to give your dog the best possible Petpals experience. We are completely confident that you and your dog will love our service, but just so that you can be as sure, your first walk with us is absolutely free!

If you're not sure whether your dog will enjoy the company of other dogs, talk to us. We can work with you to introduce your dog to others in a way which is stress free and safe. For those dogs who are sure they only like their own company, we also offer a one to one walking service. Let us know if you want to talk to us about this.

Have a look at our testimonials page to read what other customers have said about us.

  • New Express Dog Walking Service

    New for 2011

If your dog just needs a quick break during the day we are introducing a new service to our customers from 1st May - for just £5.

Our £5 express dog walk means your dog gets to stretch his legs and have a comfort break, without the cost of a long walk.

The 15 minutes will include letting your dog into your own garden or a walk in the local area, and a quick clean up if required, ensuring that your dog is settled and happy until you get back home. We can also feed your dog if you need us to.

There is limited availability for this express service.

To book an express walk, please contact us.

  • Puppy Care

Before your puppy is old enough to venture out on walks, we can provide a visit service for feeding, playing and toilet breaks in your garden.

  • Cat and Small Pet Care

Cats and other small pets often prefer to stay at home whilst you're away, and we can offer the care they need. Rather than use catteries or other boarding facilities, which can be stressful for pets, we can visit them in their own home to feed, keep litter trays clean, give medication - whatever they need. Before you go away we will come to see you, so that you can tell us exactly what your pets need. You can then go away secure in the knowledge that your pets will be well cared for and happy. We are experienced in the care of all small pets including birds and exotics. And of course your first pet care visit is free.

  • Dog Home Boarding

Our exclusive home boarding service means your dog will have also have a holiday as you're having yours. Living as our house guest and as one of the family, your dog can have all their usual home comforts and routine. For our doggy guests we are their home from home!

  • Dog Behaviour Training and Modification

Angela offers behaviour and training advice for dog owners who need a little help. Her methods are full of common sense and her advice is easy to follow, jargon-free and focussed on putting the relationship between dog and owner back on track and helping owners have a dog who is a joy to live with. She can also give advice for new puppy owners to make the early months as enjoyable as possible. Her methods are reward-based, kind and fair.

Just to say thank you so much for looking after Dudley and Suki. They looked very well and contented when we got back Monday, and we have been kneaded, nibbled and purred at tremendously since!!!?Another thing that was an absolute pleasure was the state of the kitchen......immaculate, tidy and clean (far better than when we're here!)....for which we're very grateful and most impressed.?It's so reassuring to have Petpals. You are a great team and we always recommend you.

We were looking for an alternative to putting our cat in a cattery whilst on holiday, as the one and only time we did it stressed her greatly. She lost weight and was clingy and frightened on picking her up.After searching the net and learning about Pet Pals it seemed a perfect solution. We couldnt have been happier with Angela @ Pet Pals. We can now go away and feel we can relax knowing our cat is at home feed and watered and happy! Thank you!

Thanks very much for looking after the guinea pigs for me, (and thanks for giving them treats!) They are all doing well and have been out in the runs mowing the lawn for us each day since we got home.

Thank you for coming in and feeding our cats over Xmas. It gave my husband and I great peace of mind to know you would keep an eye out for the cats while we were away. Thank you.

Angie and Jane have cared for Levi for the past 3 years. I will never be able to thank them enough for all the times they have helped us cope with Levi, through every week and holidays and extra days at short notice, it is never a problem for Levi to be fitted in very short notice. I'm sure this is not easy to rearrange and am amazed at how Angie always knows my phone number and is always a delight to speak to and will always sort something out. Levi was a rescue dog and was terrified of other dogs and this would not have been easy for Petpals to manage with other dogs yet through their patience he is now so much happier, sociable and friendly. Mark and I constantly say how lucky we were to get Jane and Angie as their constant encouragement has completely turned Levi around and it has been an absolute pleasure to see Levi grow in confidence and now to see him socialise with other dogs that would have chased and picked on him. We initially took Levi to dog training locally where a police dog handler could do nothing with him and despaired of Levi which left us wondering what we were going to do and what we had let ourselves in for, then with Petpals they took all the stress away with great advice and regular walks and lots of patience so now we have an even more lovely Levi as he has become so much more confident with Petpals. We are moving to London shortly and Jane has always helped us with great advice regarding Levi and his crate and we know that we will all really miss Jane and hope when we return Petpals will have space for Levi again. One last thing - in these days of rushing and charging about it is such a relief to know that Levi is being cared for - Petpals have been our 4th emergency service and it has meant such a lot to us. Thanking you for your excellent service and wishing you very best wishes for the future.
  • September 22, 2010 by Nigel Pendleton - Petpals Wetherby & Tadcaster

Hi there Pet Pals, I want to take this opportunity to say that I have just used Pet Pals for the very first time and need to convey what a first class service I have experienced . This was with the York branch and I had the pleasure of dealing with Angela Parrish. I was impressed by the way Angela visited our house first hand to familiarise herself with everything and it was immediately obviously she was naturally a pet friendly and caring person. I think I need to add that I have always worried about my pets when away (to the detriment of my holidays) and although I could have rung Angela to see how they were, I opted not too such was my confidence in Angela's capabilities. Ten days later we returned to two happy, clean and content pets, who'd clearly been provided with both mainstream and fresh food as required, but whose food bowls had been scroupulously washed and not a trace of waste to be seen. Is'nt that what just you want to come back to ! I will have no hesitancy in using York Pet Pals on a regular basis in the future and will definately promote Pet Pals and their top notch services to both me friends, colleagues and neighbours. Yours sincerely Nigel Pendleton
