I have lived in Catterick since 1997 and after a career in the Army was looking for a fulfilling career where I could combine wanting to run my own business with my passion for animals. Starting a Petpals franchise was the perfect solution and I launched Petpals (Richmond and Northallerton) in March 2010.

I have a long history of owning German Shepherds as pets and always take my dogs on holiday with me when I visit Spain and through this experience I am able to offer sound advice on the Pet Travel Scheme.

I have both female and male dogs, Zara who is 5 months and Rocky who is a rescue at 4 yrs old. I am currently taking Zara through her Bronze award at the moment.

I have looked after various types of pets for friends and family over the years and these range from cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea, birds and cats. I am more than willing to accommodate any pet service you require. At Petpals I am fully insured and trained and also have a home boarding licence which is required by Richmond District council. To give you peace of mind your pet will always receive continuous service and be made to feel at home. I am also able to administer medication to your pets should their condition require it as I have experience of pets with Epilepsy, Osteoarthritis and incontinence.

Ongoing Pet Welfare Training, liaising with local community police, community groups and vets all assist in the provision of a friendly, flexible, professional and personally-tailored service that puts the pets first. Pet sitting and dog boarding are particularly popular as an alternative to Catteries and Kennels, as both these services can be particularly stressful for your animals. Let me cater for them during holidays, weekends away and business trips. Allow me to take away the worries and stresses of having to accommodate your pet when you are unable to.

Petpals (Richmond & Northallerton) are also able to offer a Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Service to all the forces within Catterick Garrison and RAF Leeming. I have access to all of the military camps and my service is flexible and tailored to your needs. This service is available 365 days a year.

At Petpals we are fully trained, insured, uniformed and police checked. We are delighted to offer a flexible range of friendly, professional services that can be personally tailored to your requirements and your pet's individual needs. • Dog Walking

  Making use of the many areas found locally, our dog walking aims to give your dog a stimulating and enjoyable walk in a safe environment. These can be individual visits for your dog(s) and or multi walks, with up to four dogs at a time transported in our purpose fitted vehicles.

• Puppy and Elderly Dog Visits

  Our puppy and elderly pet care service offers you units of time during the day to visit your dog(s) at home. During the visit we walk your dog or puppy, play, and if required help with ongoing training, toileting breaks, etc., along with, of course, lots of TLC.

• Cat Sitting and Cat Visits

  Petpals have proven to be very popular with clients that want to leave their cats at home in there own environment, with familiar comforts and smells, particularly with elderly cats and cats that need medication. Our cat sitting service allows clients to go away safe in the knowledge that Petpals are visiting their cats to feed, clean litter trays if required, play, along with lots of TLC.

• Pet Sitting

  Our home based pet sitting service is a real alternative to kennels, your pets can remain in their own familiar surroundings, with their own routines and food while you are away.

• Small Pets and Exotics

  Petpals also have varied experience in caring for small pets and exotics and are happy to provide home visits for these types of pets too.

• Pet Taxi

  Petpals are equipped with pet friendly vehicles fitted with specially designed safety cages of various sizes with a vet bed on top of removable rubber matting for hygiene. We can transport everything from small pets and cats to giant dog breeds. We can also help with trips to the vets.

  Jean looked after our diabetic cat a few weekends ago. We came home to a happy contented cat who had clearly been really well looked after. She also re assured us with some text messages letting us know how he was getting on! We will certainly be using her services again.

  Jean has popped in on our Lab 'Lucy-Loop' a couple of times a week since we got her. The socialisation Lucy gets on walks with Jean and a variety of other dogs has really helped her development. Lucy clearly loves Jean. Our two rabbits Harry and Daisy also took a shine to her last week when we were on holiday! Jean provides an excellent service, even when requests are last-minute, and we would reccommend her to family and friends. She offers brilliant advice and support and clearly loves all animals.

  Our dog Bella, first stayed with Jean for a weekend when she was 4 months old where she had a great experience playing with other dogs, good walks etc. Since then she has had her for another weekend and recently she had a 10 day stay. Each time we find that she has had a great time and also her behaviour seems to improve on each occasion. Jean is brilliant and I feel totally happy leaving Bella with her. Her knowlege and care for her animals is first class. Looking forward to end of May when she has her next stay. Thanks!

  I have just been on the website to see a photo of my retriever Bertie having fun with 5 friends yesterday in the water. It is nice to see what he gets up to!!. Caroline and Jean have helped to look after him since he was a puppy and they are wonderful - always thinking of something fun for him to do - and getting through (and on with it!) whatever the weather. Using petpals to supplement his walks from us has made him a really sociable dog and he is a credit to them. We all love pet pals .

  We would like to say Thank you to Jean and her team for looking after Skye our lovely Labrador. Jean is a life saver.She is looking after him since 23.12. When ever needed. Night and day. She is alway just a phone call away!! When our daughter is aloud to go home for a day or 2 Jean makes sure Skye is at home to great her. He is staying at her house most of the time and ejoys it so much that he goes mad when the van turns up on our drive. I can only praise Jean and Caroline for hard work.THANK YOU SO MUCH GIRLS X

  Jean and Caroline have been walking my dogs regularly for the past 6 months and the service has been superb. Alfie and Solo are treated as well as one of their own, in fact I am fairly sure they have far more fun with Jean and Caroline than they do with me. On occasions when I have had to work away overnight Jean has again looked after my dogs and I know with complete peace of mind that they will be well cared for. Big Thanks especially from "the boys".

  I left my two dogs with petpals for the first time last week while I went to cornwall and am so pleased with my decision. Both ladies were lovely and very obviously dog lovers, I got regular text and picture updates letting me know how the dogs were getting on, I also had the peace of mind of knowing that my house was also being looked after. On my return both dogs were calm and happy. Have already booked my next holiday away! Thanks girls.

  Jean has been walking my dog for the past few months as I work out of the Garrison area. Her expertise in Dogs has been a life saver to me as my dog can be difficult and highly strung and needs a good walk. My friends found it difficult to handle my dog and I felt embarrassed asking them to walk him. Jean meets my specifications and I like my dog to be walked on and off the lead. she has tailored my dogs needs as well with her dedication and caring nature. My dog is well cared for has a great walk and I am extremely happy with the service she provides. I strongly recommend her to all my friends and neighbours.   I started working full time three weeks ago and have used petpals every day to walk my two terriers at lunchtime. I am over the moon with the service. They get an hour long walk and are both very happy dogs,I also get left feedback everyday about how the dogs have been. Staff are very friendly and are also very flexible on the odd accasion I have needed some extra walks. Would definately recommend.

  I am very Happy with the service i received from Petpals. Jean collected my 2 German Shepherd Dogs and had them overnight in her home.She was very friendly towards me and my family and very experienced in dog behaviour as she knew how to handle our new German Shepherd whom we have only had a few weeks as we have just rescued him from GSR. UK (German Shepherd Rescue UK) I was very happy and satisfied with the care she gave to my Dogs, they came home very relaxed after plenty of walks and will definatly recommend these services. I will no doubt be certainly using Petpals services again as my Dogs were very Happy.

Petpals Richmon & Northallerton - Animal lover launches pet-sitting service

Animal lover launches pet-sitting service - theadvertiserseries.co.uk - Feb 21010

An animal lover has launched her pet-sitting business by making donations to local animal welfare charities.

Jean Wilson, 42, of Catterick Village, has started Petpals from her home and will take in any kind of animal while its owner is away.

To mark its launch, Ms Wilson has made donations of £100 to the Dogs Trust in Darlington, and the Blue Cross, in Thirsk. She hopes to hold fundraising events for both charities.

She said, "I have rescue dogs of my own and when the opportunity came along to start Petpals I decided to go for it. It's a total change of career for me, but I'm looking forward to it.
