Melissa Roberts launched her Petpals pet sitting operation in October 2006. She operates the business from Yateley in Hampshire, and covers Hook and the surrounding areas including Bramley, Bramshill, Chineham, Eversley, Hartley Wespall, Hazley Heath Heckfield, Heckfield Heath, Hound Green, Lychpit, Mattingley, Newnham, Odiham, Old Basing, Rotherwick, Sherborne St John, Sherfield on Loddon, Statfield Turgis, Turgis Green and all surrounding villages within this area.

Melissa, after 20 years working as a secretary/senior executive PA, decided to change career to combine her love of animals, pet care, outdoor life, and also to allow her to spend more time with her family and their rescue dog - Arnie.

Living in Yateley for the last 13 years, Melissa has owned, cared for, or had experience of a vast range of animals and pets, from dogs to cats, horses, goats, cows, chickens and ducks, fish and a hamster. Melissa has always had pets and her love of animals started at a very early age.

At Petpals we are fully trained, insured. Our pet sitting services are flexible and can be tailored to your pet’s individual needs. Our pet sitting and pet boarding services include, dog sitting, dog walking, dog boarding, home visits for cats and small pets, puppy care, elderly dog care, home visits for dogs, home sitting, cat sitting and a pet taxi and pet to vet service.

• Dog Walking

  Making use of the many areas found locally, our dog walking aims to give your dog a stimulating and enjoyable walk in a safe environment. These can be individual visits for your dog(s) and or multi walks, with up to four dogs at a time transported in our purpose fitted vehicles.

• Puppy and Elderly Dog Visits

  Our puppy and elderly pet care service offers you units of time during the day to visit your dog(s) at home. During the visit we walk your dog or puppy, play, and if required help with ongoing training, toileting breaks, etc., along with, of course, lots of TLC.

• Dog Boarding and Pet Boarding

  We offer a pet boarding and pet care experience where your dog can stay in the home of one of our carefully selected, dedicated carers. You will be given the opportunity to meet the pet boarding carer before you go away and to see where your pet will be staying. When your dog stays with a Petpals approved family they are treated as one of the family with all the usual sights, sounds and smells of family life, but best of all they will receive all the love, cuddles and attention they deserve!

• Cat Sitting and Cat Visits

  Petpals have proven to be very popular with clients that want to leave their cats at home in there own environment, with familiar comforts and smells, particularly with elderly cats and cats that need medication. Our cat sitting service allows clients to go away safe in the knowledge that Petpals are visiting their cats to feed, clean litter trays if required, play, along with lots of TLC.

• Pet Sitting and Home Sitting

  Our home based pet sitting service is a real alternative to kennels, your pets can remain in their own familiar surroundings, with their own routines and food while you are away.

• Small Pets and Exotics

  Petpals also have varied experience in caring for small pets and exotics and are happy to provide home visits for these types of pets too.

• Pet Taxi

  Petpals are equipped with pet friendly vehicles fitted with specially designed safety cages of various sizes with a vet bed on top of removable rubber matting for hygiene. We can transport everything from small pets and cats to giant dog breeds. We can also help with trips to the vets.

  Melissa has been walking our dogs Phoebe and Pierre for the last 2 years, she has always provided a reliable and safe service. Pierre always a very nervous dog took to Melissa and really looked forward to his walks. Phoebe who was born deaf needed special attention and care which never phased Melissa and I knew our babies were always in the safest of hands.Due to a change in circumstances we no longer need the service but know Melissa is always there and can greatly recommend her.   We have just moved to the coast and are gutted we won't be able to use Melissa's service. So professional and we never had any fears our precious doggies would not be looked after as we would expect. Doggie boarder Colin has been an absolute delight - and many times a life saver!   We started using Melissa when we first got our 2 cats, Ronnie and Reggie in 2006, and she proved to be an absolute godsend. We often gave very short notice of an intention to seek warmer shores and Melissa never let us down. She always went the extra mile and in addition to making sure that the cats were fed and watered she also made sure that the house looked lived in - so curtains would be open and closed, lights turned on etc. So Melissa provided much more than pet care and made the house appear occupied. Melissa is absolutely trustworthy, reliable, honest and professional. We now live abroad and realise how spoilt we were by having someone like Melissa to look after cats and home. Please start a franchise in France!!

  Bill (Great Dane) and Maggie (Heinz 57) will miss their walks with Melissa. A year ago when we brought them back to the UK from Spain they were not used to socializing with other dogs and, as we lived on farmland, had rarely been walked on leads. One year on they are very well adjusted to life in England. Melissa comes to our house, takes the dogs for a good walk with others in a small group, wipes their paws on their return and doesn't forget to give them (and the cat!) a treat. No wonder Bill and Maggie are always delighted to see her, should we meet Melissa on one of our walks with them. Melissa is extremely conscientious and this has given us tremendous peace of mind when we can not be home to walk our dogs ourselves. We are moving house shortly and unfortunately will be out of Melissa's area, but she has arranged for another walker from Petpals to take over. We would like to thank Melissa for all her efforts and wish her all the best for the future. We will recommend her to anyone who needs their pets looked after.

  If you want someone you can trust with your most beloved pet, then you're in luck! Melissa of Petpals Hook has been a lifesaver on many occasions, arranging home boarding for our collie with one of her team, Colin Webster. Colin is a true animal lover and we have no hesitation at all in recommending him to you. We don't know what we would have done without Colin and we thank Melissa for arranging all the home stays. We are sad to say that we are moving away from the area and we can only hope that we find a pet carer as committed and trustworthy as Colin Webster.

  Melissa of Petpals Hook has been cat sitting for our two cats now for nearly three years. We really value the service Melissa provides. Not only is it reassuring to know the cats are in good hands, but she also keeps an eye on the house whilst we are away. To be honest we don't really want to leave her but unfortunately we are moving house! She is also very efficient and organised invoicing on time and responding to texts, calls and emails and nothing ever seems too much trouble including last minute request. We would highly recommend her and are confident that people will be delighted with her service.

  Melissa from Petpals Hook has looked after our young cats several times, and we are happy to recommend her services. Whenever we go away we return to find spotlessly clean litter tray & food dishes, and to two very happy & healthy animals. The additional services offered, such as opening & closing curtains and turning on lights, are a convenient way of increasing security while we are on holiday. Melissa is very thorough and obviously loves animals, which we found very reassuring when leaving her in charge of our 14 week old kittens.
