Maxine launched her Petpals Operation in April 2006. She operates the business from home in Thornhill and will cover the North area of Cardiff. Originally from Derbyshire, Maxine lived and worked in West Sussex as a Senior Assistant within the Treasury and Finance sector for the last 14 years.

For many years now, I've been planning a career change to combine my love of animals with the outdoors, and fulfill a lifetime ambition of running a small business. I am also looking forward to spending some more time with our Rescue Dalmation's "Ruby and Will" and Cockatiel "Bruce". While recently relocating back to my husband's home town of Cardiff to spend more time with the family, Maxine has owned, cared for and had a range of pets, from dogs and cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, tortoises and terrapins.

At Petpals we are fully trained, insured, and carry identification. Our services are flexible and can be tailored to your pet's individual needs.

Maxine is a registered pet sitter who has completed training in the following:

Pet Care, Pet Sitting and Pet Boarding Services offered by Petpals Cardiff, Wales

• Dog/puppy walks/visits

  We can offer you dedicated time during the day to visit your Dog(s) or puppy.  During the visit, we would walk, play and if required help with ongoing training, along with lots of TLC.  These can be individual visits for your dog(s) and or multiple walks to the various parks and mountains in the area, with up to four dogs at a time transported in our purpose fitted van.

• Home visits for dogs

  A real alternative to kennels, your dog can remain in it's own familiar surroundings, with their own routines and food while you are away.  An added bonus is a complimentary security service as your home will be visited daily until you return.  Overnight stays are also included in this service.

• Cat Visits

  Petpals has proven to be very popular with clients that want to leave their cats at home in their own environment with familiary comforts and smells, particularly with elderly cats and cats that need medication. Our clients can go away safe in the knowledge that Petpals Cardiff will visit their cats to feed, clean litter trays if required, and provide whatever comforts your cat needs.

• Small Pets

  Petpals Cardiff also have a range of experience in caring for small pets, and are happy to provide home visits and boarding services for these types of pets too.

• Pet Taxi

  At Petpals Cardiff we are equipped with a pet friendly van.  The van is fitted with 4 safety cages of various sizes and a vet bed on top of removable rubber matting for hygiene.

  We can transport everything from small pets, cats and dogs to larger dog breeds.

  We can also help with trips to the vets, your pet's groomer, breeders, south wales hydratherapy pool, or full relocations nationwide.

  Maxine, Ashleigh and Alyson have taken care of our cat and chickens while we have been on holidays twice now and even when things have not quite gone to plan have always been very professional and caring. With previous catsitters our Siamese has lost weight and looked distinctly unhappy when we came back; this time, she was clearly at ease. That speaks volumes.

  I was so worried about going back to work full time and what was going to happen to my 1 year old Golden Retriever, Monty. I really didn't need to worry. Alyson has been walking him since the end of November. He is happy, content, and has such wonderful walks with her. I'm no longer worried because I know he is in caring hands. Today Alyson left a treat stocking and card for him for Christmas. So thoughtful! I also get a written update of everything that he has been up to when on his walk. From someone who was so worried about leaving their dog, I can't recommend Petpals, and Alyson highly enough. They make mine and Monty's days so much easier and pleasurable. Thank you

  Maxine,Ashleigh and Alyson have been wonderful with our rescue dog, Tonic. Their daily walks have made such a difference. They work hard to calm and reassure him and are so reliable. I would highly recommend them.

  Ashleigh was absolutely fantastic, we were really, really impressed. She put our minds at rest and the kittens loved her - Torty doesn't come out for anyone except for Justin and myself so it says a lot that she trusted Ash enough to come and sit with her. She was very professional throughout and we will book with you again. The cats obviously trust and like her, (Spook was actually a little moody last night when the door opened and it was us instead of Ash!!) Thanks for such a great service and we will see you again soon!

  Maxine has walked our dog Roxy for the last 4 years, she is very reliable and always does her best to accomadate last minute walks. She is brilliant with Roxy who can be a handful at times, it is obvious to see that she genuinely cares about the animals and is comitted to her job. She is professional and dedicated, we don't know what we would do without her!

  I should also like to reiterate my comments for the work that Jackie does in walking and looking after Barney. She is absolutely smashing and always leaves us a lovely note about where Barney's been on his walk. She also helped us out in an emergency recently by boarding Barney when we had no alternative. Can't recommend her highly enough.

  We can highly recommend Petpals Cardiff. Maxine does a great job for us. She takes our dog, Barney the border terrier, out for walks twice a week and we get a short written report after every trip which our daughter (aged 5) loves to read when she gets home. Barney must love it because he's always shattered in the evening after being out in the day. Barney is a very important part of our family and we wouldn't entrust him to anyone else other than Maxine.

  I have two beautiful yet demanding cats called Sahara and Paris, both maine coons. As wonderful as my girls are they both have health issues ranging from having no tear ducts to having chronic IBS. Like most people I have to go away and leave my girls for periods of time and there is no-one I would rather leave them with. In particular one of my cats required consistent treatment to her eyes whilst I was away. I was slightly concerned that her condition might have deteriorated while I was away, but upon my return I found that her eyes were in excellent condition due to Maxine and Jackie's conscientious treatment. I can't recommend them highly enough as there attention to detail is excellent. Maxine and Jackie are kind,friendly, and wonderful individuals and truly put the care of your pets first. Thank you both for years of peace of mind.

  I have used Maxine's dog walking and boarding services on a regular basis since Ruby our treasured Springer Spaniel came to live with us about 18mths ago. The service is second to none and I would highly recommend it! Ruby regularly day boards with Jackie and has also boarded with her for a week while we went on holiday. I was so anxious about leaving her, however I needn't have had any worries-Jackie provided a 'home from home' environment where she was cared for as if she was one of her own dogs. She had lots of fun, plenty of exercise and was extremely well looked after. Maxine and Jackie have provided a professional caring service which I would recommend to anyone and shall continue to use.

  Stella, our cocker spaniel was six months old when she came to us and took a while to settle in her new home. I work part time and it was too long a day for her to be on her own. Toilet training was also a big problem. She was unhappy and I felt guilty and stressed the days I had to leave her. Pet pals completely changed both our lives for the better. Jackie, Stella's walker (and best friend!) is absolutely wonderful. She does way and above what I expected. The mess in the house stopped immediately (Jackie adjusted Stellas walk time in accordance to her needs). I've been out for a walk with Jackie and the dogs she walks and have seen for myself what a wonderful time they have. They are safe and cared for. I trust her implicitly with both Stella and the security of my home. My husband is happy because I've finally agreed to book a holiday and leave my precious dog! My mind is at ease because she will stay with Jackie and her family (which includes two lovely cocker spaniels).My only concern is that Stella won't want to come home!

  Maxine is absolutely invaluable to me and my 3 year old Lab 'Henry'. She walks him daily and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. She genuinely cares about his welfare and leaves me a note every day to let me know what he has been up too while i'm at work - he clearly has more fun than me! I would recommend the Petpals service to anyone who is away from their pets for a prolonged period of time.

  My 2 cocker spaniels and elderly cat were looked after by Petpals last year. I found them to be very professional and caring with the animals. The dogs were walked regularly at the time I had requested and all animals were healthy etc when we got back from our weeks holiday.
